Guitarist Steve Roane leads this jazzy, easy- listening group through a handful of slow, groovy, mostly vocal-less originals that could be mistaken for standards, plus a Willie Dixon cover of the song "Spoonful." Tenor sax player Russ Becker takes his share of the solo duties, with a creamy, inoffensive soft sound that defines the quartet. It's not the kind of disc that begs you to sit down and scrutinize every note; it's more of a casual listen. This is the kind of band you'd like to play at your family picnic, but I don't mean that in a bad way. The Digger Stevens Band “is a fun band for people who are already having fun.” Performing outdoor, on the green, gazebo, and public concerts. We are also available for private parties and special weddings, occasions. Concert latecomers surprisingly report that the band sounds larger than just three musicians. Audience participation is also provided in the show as Digger connects with the audience. The Band’s repertoire meets select quality requirements such as; entertain-ability, uniqueness (chances are that we play the b-side of the hit), a sense-of-humor, lyrical appeal, and a foot tapping beat at the very least. Our selection of music is in the genres of; Rhythm & Blues, Boogie, and Swing - mostly from the ‘30s, ‘40s &’50s.
